Three films for one of Dublin’s leading orthopaedic and sports medicine practices. A brand introduction and two patient information pieces built around clarity, trust and care.
Aspire Orthopaedics is a specialist orthopaedic and sports medicine practice in Dublin, founded by three leading hip and knee surgeons: Mr. Mihai Vioreanu, Mr. Gavin McHugh, and Prof. Brian M. Devitt. The practice is based at the UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry, one of Europe’s leading sports medicine and surgical facilities.
The collaboration began with a short brand film introducing the practice, its people and its approach. From there, the work expanded into patient information content for the UPMC SSC Sports Medicine Department, focused on helping patients understand what to expect during specialist testing before they walk through the door.
The central challenge across all three pieces was the same: make highly technical sports medicine testing feel understandable to a patient with no clinical background. Clinical accuracy. Patient reassurance. Professional presentation. A clear sense of the quality of the facility and team. All at the same time.
The brand film was created to introduce Aspire Orthopaedics: who they are, what they do, and the level of thinking and care behind the practice. With Mr. Mihai Vioreanu, Mr. Gavin McHugh and Prof. Brian M. Devitt at the centre of it, the aim was to give the practice a clear, credible presence for patients, partners and referrers.
The film brings together the clinical environments at UPMC Sports Surgery Clinic in Santry, consultation, surgical context and the wider patient journey. The creative approach was built around clarity, trust and restraint. No overstatement. Considered visuals, real environments and a calm pace that reflects the seriousness of the work.
The ACL Lab video was created as a patient information piece for the UPMC SSC Sports Medicine Department. It follows the patient journey from arrival and check-in through to testing, strength assessment, biomechanics and next steps.
The video explains that ACL testing takes place across two important recovery points, helping the clinical team understand how the patient is progressing and what is needed before returning safely to sport. The aim was to make the testing process feel less intimidating and more transparent.
The film combines clinical footage, patient-led sequences, motion graphics and voice over to explain the process clearly. The tone is practical and reassuring, with enough technical detail to respect the work without overwhelming the viewer.
The Hamstring Lab video guides patients through the full testing process, from reception and initial assessment through to strength testing, jump profiling and the explanation of results.
The goal was to show patients what the session involves, what they should expect, and how the information gathered helps the clinical team understand their recovery. The piece had to feel informative without becoming cold. The patient needed to understand the process, not feel buried in terminology.
The camera follows the patient through the space from arrival to assessment and testing. The voice over explains each stage in plain language, while the visuals show the equipment, staff and environment in a calm and structured way.
This collaboration sat in a space Van Rose works well in: technical subjects that need to be made clear, human and visually refined.
The work was not about making medicine look dramatic. It was about making the process easier to understand and giving patients a clearer sense of what they are walking into. Real people, real spaces, real movement and careful pacing.
The films needed to feel premium without being glossy for the sake of it. They had to respect the environment, the patient and the expertise behind the service. Each video was built to reduce uncertainty, explain the process and present the team’s work with clarity and care.
Across the brand film and the Sports Medicine videos, the common thread was the same: trust.
