Premium chef tools deserve more than product videos. Three films showing the thinking, craft and people behind the OuiChef collection.
OuiChef creates high-end tools for chefs who care about precision, craft and the details that shape how food is prepared and presented. These are not generic kitchen products. Each piece is developed through real collaboration with working professionals, shaped by how the best kitchens actually operate.
OuiChef came to Van Rose through Chef Mickael Viljanen, following previous work created with Chapter One. The brief across all three projects was consistent: make the thinking behind the products visible. Show the tools through the chefs who helped design them, and through the precision required to use them properly.
The work combined documentary-style storytelling with controlled product cinematography, using real kitchen environments, interviews, studio setups, motion detail shots and social cutdowns.
The first project centred on OuiChef’s collaboration with Chef Mickael Viljanen for the launch of his Signature Collection, covering the Sharp Palette Knife and Ring Moulds as part of the same design story.
The brief was to show that these tools were developed through real collaboration, shaped by the needs of a chef working at the highest level. The film needed to communicate precision, trust and practical use, while still feeling human and grounded.
We filmed at Chapter One, following Mickael in a working kitchen environment and combining that with an interview segment to explain the thinking behind the tools. Controlled studio product shots supported the documentary element, focusing on texture, movement, shape and detail.
The second project followed OuiChef’s collaboration with Chef Ahmet Dede for the launch of his Signature Spoon. The focus was on the relationship between the chef, the tool and the precision required in plating and presentation.
The film had to show the spoon as part of Ahmet’s way of working, not just as a standalone product. A small object carrying a lot of thought. The visual approach was quiet, restrained and built around detail. Rather than over-explaining, the film allowed the tool to sit naturally within the chef’s process.
The third project shifted focus from chef collaboration to pure product. The brief was to create premium visual content for OuiChef’s Magnetic Rack system, presenting it as a high-end piece for both professional and home environments.
The goal was to elevate the product beyond standard ecommerce imagery. The Magnetic Rack needed to feel clean, desirable and considered. We used controlled studio setups, dark backgrounds, reflective surfaces and precise product movement to create a polished visual language around the rack. Shape, finish, material and visual impact were the only things that mattered.
The common thread across the OuiChef work was craftsmanship. Each project had a different setting and purpose, but the approach remained consistent.
For the chef collaborations, that meant building the films around real people and real use. The products were shown through the perspective of the chefs who helped shape them. The aim was not to demonstrate features but to communicate the thinking, the process and the standard behind each tool.
For the Magnetic Rack, the focus shifted towards a more controlled product language, using studio lighting, motion and detail to give the product the visual weight it deserved. Premium but not artificial. Quality shown, not stated.
